This is a last-ditch effort to save the subspecies. The northern white rhino may go extinct despite these efforts. The southern white rhino, by contrast, has recovered from fewer than 100 individuals in the early 1900s to over 20,000 today, thanks to conservation. Spread awareness: talk to friends and family, share on social media, write to elected officials. Volunteer: join a cleanup, participate in citizen science (e.g., eBird, iNaturalist). Make sustainable choices: buy sustainable seafood (MSC certified), choose FSC certified wood, avoid palm oil (unless certified sustainable). Plant native plants (provide habitat for wildlife). Keep cats indoors (cats kill billions of birds each year). Reduce food waste (waste contributes to habitat destruction). Recycle and compost. Educate yourself and others. The future of endangered species depends on our actions. You can make a difference!
