Curriculum Description: This intensive program explores the Modernist revolution in literature that transformed how writers told stories and how readers experienced them. Students will study James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Franz Kafka, Marcel Proust, Thomas Mann, T.S. Eliot, William Faulkner, and Hermann Hesse, discovering how modernists broke with tradition to explore consciousness, time, alienation, and the fragmentation of modern life. Each lesson includes interactive activities, podcasts, and quizzes to reinforce learning.

Prerequisites: Completion of Foundations of World Literature (LT1) or equivalent recommended.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this intensive program, students will be able to identify the major works and authors of Modernist literature, understand the key innovations of Modernism including stream of consciousness and fragmentation, analyze themes of alienation, time, and consciousness in Modernist writing, and appreciate the lasting impact of Modernism on contemporary literature.
