Target Audience: Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12 students (ages 14-18)

Difficulty Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Curriculum Description: This workshop explores the great questions of political philosophy: Why do governments exist? What makes political authority legitimate? What is the best form of government? Students will study Aristotle, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Marx, and the major debates about liberty, equality, and social contract theory. Each lesson includes interactive activities, podcasts, and quizzes to reinforce learning.

Prerequisites: Completion of Ethics & Moral Philosophy (P6) recommended.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, students will be able to explain the major theories of political authority and legitimacy, compare different visions of the ideal state, understand the development of social contract theory, and evaluate contemporary debates about liberty, equality, and justice.
