Target Audience: Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8 students (ages 11-14)
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Curriculum Description: This comprehensive life science workshop explores the diversity and complexity of living organisms . Students will study cells and organisms, genetics and evolution, human body systems (circulatory, digestive, respiratory), ecology and ecosystems, food chains, environmental science, and endangered species . Each lesson includes interactive activities and quizzes to reinforce learning.
Prerequisites: Basic science knowledge (elementary level).
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, students will be able to explain cell theory and the structure of living organisms, describe the principles of genetics and evolution, identify major human body systems and their functions, analyze ecosystem interactions and food chains, and evaluate environmental conservation issues.
1
Lesson 1: Cells and Organisms - Interactive Biology Lesson for Kids. Discover the basic unit of life: the cell. This lesson explores plant and animal cell structures, their functions, and how cells work together to form organisms.
2
Lesson 2: Genetics - Interactive Lesson on Heredity and DNA. Explore how traits are passed from parents to offspring through genes and DNA. This lesson covers dominant and recessive traits, genetic variation, and the basics of heredity.
3
Lesson 3: Evolution - Interactive Biology Lesson on Adaptation and Change. Discover how species change over time through natural selection and adaptation. This lesson covers the theory of evolution and evidence for evolutionary change.
4
Lesson 4: Circulatory System - Interactive Lesson on the Heart and Blood Flow. Explore the circulatory system including the heart, blood vessels, and blood. This lesson covers how oxygen and nutrients are transported throughout the body.
5
Lesson 5: Digestive System - Interactive Lesson on Human Body Systems. Discover the digestive system and how food is broken down into nutrients. This lesson covers the journey of food through the body and nutrient absorption.
6
Lesson 6: Respiratory System - Interactive Lesson on Breathing and Lungs. Explore the respiratory system including the lungs, diaphragm, and airways. This lesson covers how oxygen enters the body and carbon dioxide is removed.
