🐋 Fun fact: The blue whale is the largest animal that has ever lived on Earth – even bigger than the largest dinosaurs! Blue whales can grow up to 100 feet (30 meters) long and weigh as much as 200 tons (400,000 pounds). Their heart alone is the size of a small car (about 1,000 pounds) and can be heard beating from 2 miles away. A blue whale\’s tongue weighs as much as an elephant. They eat up to 4 tons of krill (tiny shrimp-like animals) per day. Despite their size, blue whales are filter feeders (not predators). They are also the loudest animals on Earth – their calls can reach 188 decibels and travel for hundreds of miles underwater!
