🇪🇺 Fun fact: The smallest country in Europe (and the world) is Vatican City, which is completely surrounded by Rome, Italy. It is only about 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometers) and has a population of about 800 people. It is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church and the home of the Pope. The second smallest is Monaco (about 0.78 square miles / 2.02 square kilometers), famous for its casinos and the Monaco Grand Prix. The largest European country (by area) is Russia (which is partly in Asia), followed by Ukraine, France, Spain, and Sweden.
